What is Hosting?

Website Hosting or ‘Hosting’ is a service provided which offers a physical location for the storage of web pages and files. Think of it as a type of landlord, you rent physical space on a server allowing webpages to be viewed on the Internet.

As part of Tawemedia Ltd we have just launched Tawemedia Internet (http://www.tawemediainternet.co.uk/) which provides hosting together with a domain name registration service.   The first step in establishing a website is to purchase a domain name. 

Why do I need a domain name?

On the Internet your domain name is your own unique identity and is what is typed in to find your website for example http://www.mycompany.co.uk/. No two parties can have the same domain name simultaneously.  It is important when deciding on a domain name that it is relevant to your website.  You can purchase as many domain names as you like and have them all re-directed to the same website.

If you already have a domain name without hosting you can take advantage of transferring it to us free of charge with the purchase of any of our hosting packages highlighted on the following page.   If you just want to register a domain name for future use you can do it on the Tawemedia Internet website by clicking on domains and just attach a hosting plan at a later date. When you purchase one of our hosting packages you will get a .co.uk domain free of charge and will have the option of purchasing the .com if available for an additional charge.

Hosting Price List

All our hosting packages are managed using our control panel which puts you in control of your hosting account and all its features using a Web based environment. More details on all the above packages can be accessed at http://www.tawemediainternet.co.uk/.

We use Dell servers in our web hosting platform utilising state-of-the-art technology. Our platform is designed in such a way that if any server fails another server automatically and without delay takes over that server’s workload. For example, if one of our mail servers breaks down another server automatically comes online, with all the correct configuration, and takes over the work of the failed server. During this period no email is lost.

As well as this, all data is stored in two large network disk arrays. Data is automatically synchronised between the arrays so that in the event of an array failing the remaining array continues to serve data to the servers with no downtime.
